Megan Fong came to King looking for work that aligned with her values, and she found it in a role that directly supports public schools.

Megan joined King in September 2025 as a Funding Associate. In this role, she gathers data and conducts research to help calculate funding eligibility for school districts. Her work supports accurate, detailed assessments that play a direct role in how public school funding is determined.

From design to funding

Although Megan’s degree is in graphic design, her path to King was shaped by a desire to serve her community. After graduating, she worked at an architecture firm, where she reviewed plans and became comfortable working with technical drawings. That experience translated naturally into her current work at King, especially when reviewing building layouts and site plans.

One of Megan’s favorite responsibilities is square footage takeoffs. She extracts individual floor plans for each building on a school site and uses Adobe tools to calculate square footage with precision. Thanks to her design background, her takeoffs are especially clean and accurate, and it is a skill her teammates quickly noticed and appreciated.

Focus, curiosity, and creative energy

Creativity continues to play a big role in her free time. Megan enjoys drawing and painting, playing video games, and experimenting in the kitchen. Cooking Chinese food is especially meaningful for her, as it helps her stay connected to her culture and to her grandmother.

One thing people may not know about Megan is how far she has pushed herself outside her comfort zone. As a child, she was extremely shy. At 19, she challenged herself by moving to Nashville with only $400, where she lived for three years and even played guitar and sang downtown to earn extra income. That experience helped shape her independence and confidence.

Growth through community

Megan describes King’s culture as hardworking, empathetic, and genuinely supportive. She values working alongside people who care deeply about the work and the communities it serves.
